About

The name of this blog arose from the common term “law of the unconscious statistician” in reference to the theorem which states that the expectation of a function of a (discrete) random variable is the weighted sum of that function of the probabilities of the random variable. I found that name amusing, so I chose to take a spin on it. The use of ‘conscious’ in this case refers to the notion that I am conscientious of various social, economical, and other phenomena and will try to post my understanding of the issues through a mathematical and statistical perspective.

In addition, I will occasionally use this website to record my research activities, especially seminars and other activities that I am organizing.
